The icon looks fine in Indesign but when I export it as a PDF, there is this ugly grey fuzz around some parts of the icon's border.

I initially downloaded the image as a png, edited it in Photoshop to change the colour from white to red and then saved it again as a png to place into InDesign. I didn't see any grey fuzz/pixels initially when editing it in Photoshop.

When gausian blurring image that is left half red and right half green there appears somewhat of black border instead of liquid transition from red do green.

In photoshop I can use LAB Colorspace and it is ok, but I haven't found anything for GIMP to achieve such effect.

Is there any method to achieve effect like in LAB colorspace in PS?

You can automate it using Actions (Record one process and apply it to a folder with your files). Then automatically it will do the job for you to all the files in the given folder. Check this video

Ex 1:

Any 3D animation, or math app app will do, i would prbably use Mathematica for this but scipy or even pstricks will do fine. But for more discussion on this topic even how to do this in illustrator if thats your cup of tea see:

Isometric bulging grid

Ex 2:

Unless you need it to animate any 2d application will do. I would do it Illustrator or say for a free app inkscape. But to be honest it is doable in the browser without anything other than a text editor without much work.

If you need it to animate any Document content creation (DCC) 3d app will do (Maya, Blener, 3dS MAX. Modo etc)

Ex 3:

Basically either tools in Ex1 or Ex2 no big deal either way.

Ex 4:

Anye 3d app would do fine. If you cant model just get a model form some website and render as points. Should be no problem for a 3d DCC app. If you have a model then a math app also works, such as mathematica or scipy.

On the other hand modelling a head is not a very easy first time job. Here its important to choose a app that you know Even if its crap otherwise you'll spend all your energy on learning new things.

EX 5:

is just a radial array of slanted toroids. Everything said in ex1 and 2 will do.

Ex 6:

Now this is surprisingly quite tricky, doing this in a math app is possible but its a a bit tricky to clip the image. But then drawing it by hand isnt that hard.

Again this is a toroid from the inside.

@Yeniel278

This is not at all unexpected, unlike the other spaces you use Lab is absolute, not relative like RGB, so the conversion from RGB to Lab is not even supposed to map to the whole space. Otherwise you couldnt use Lab as device independent. So each RGB device should produce a different range depending on the color profile of your system. So 4is the correct one.

Although calculating a square bound for a rgb space in Lab makes little sense.

When I move the layer in the last frame, it gets moved on all the frames. I can animate opacity without any problem, but moving the layer just won't work for some reason. I tried using the movie timeline and do it with keyframes, but the same happened there. I'm sure there must be some easy way I'm not seeing. Tried to google but haven't found anything. Any ideas?

Illustrator is normally rgba the background is transparent, unless you tell the save routine to treat it as white. Its just emulating paper, if you want to see it as transparent then just ask illustrator to show the transparency grid (View → Show Transparency Grid...).

@Yeniel278

Let me clarify my comment a bit. Color is not a very simple concept. While color has 3 components it is not really a straightforward way to say what the vector means like say physical location that also has 3 variables.

First RGB color values are not linear. Secondly while we have information on how to equally space colors in certain limited sets of colors its not the same thing as lineary spacing RGB values. So we know in fact that this is not linear interpolation of color. It is linear interpolation of RGB values, while a perfectly valid request not the same as intermediate color.

Now, it does not particularly help us that there can be two perfectly valid and scientifically correct and incompatible definitions of color. Simply inetremidate is badly defined and equally spaced is HARD, can not be done in a RGB space not even in LAB space. One can do it with quite a lot of fiddling and uncertainty as to whether or not you actually did it.

But yeah you can treat RGB values as linear color coordinates, and it works out as you have show. But then who is tio say RGB is the space to use LAB gives different results, XYZ gives different results a space consisting of Munsel colors would admittedly give you well spaced results an and again you get different results in HSV, HSB and XYZ spaces

You can do this in photoshop simply as follows:

Select the black color with Select → Color Range... w

Enable invert option
Full fuzzyness
OR
Use the black option
Full fuzzyness

OR

Copy the red channel, by control clicking the red channel in the channels palette.
Duplicate the layer (ctrl+J) the new layer now has only the non-black are but is still decontaminated by color or use Select → Select and Mask...
Then apply Layer → Matting → Remove black matte or in select and mask crank decontaminate

Depending on what result you want, tweak to your hearts content

@Yeniel278

From the perspective of someone who uses Adobe Illustrator, there's two possible way to achieve this.
1. Converting the text to outlines: While working with text you can't change the direction of the stroke unless you convert the text to outlines.
Select the text, go to Type > Create Outlines. Once the text has being converted, open the Stroke menu and click in this icon (the one rounded with yellow):

This way the stroke will stay away from the graphic (This option is not available when the graphic is a text element).

2. Pasting the same text in front. Just copy your text (ctrl + c) and paste it in front (ctrl + f), put the stroke to 0 and the fill color in white in the text you pasted in front. Save as an SVG.

@Yeniel278

I was struggling with this, but found a quick, lazy solution:

Create a new layer on the canvas at the top of your layers, fill with white. Select that layer and create Artboard from that layers. Then once that's done, delete the layer. You should have a new Artboard that the same size/location as your canvas was previously.

Make sure you place your white fill layer at the top of your layers and outside of any groups, otherwise it seems to muddle your layer structure. Apart from that, seems to work fine!

@Yeniel278

The blend is hundreds of separate paths . A clipping path is one simple or compound path. The blend is on top of the petal.Clipping must come after the objects it is clipping. Objects that come after other objects appear above the objects in the layer tree.

So simply your asking blend to clip the petal. This will not work, a blend is not one path. Move the blend below the petal that you intend to use as clipping then it will allow you to do this.

@Yeniel278

Yes you can use calligraphic brushes if you want the angle to be relative to document.

No, you can not do this if you want it to be relative to the curve. You can fudge it so that the line has a slanted edge but then the line itself has to go past the point your now at (line has to be past the poits tangency). Or you can put a clipping mask around it. Or you can make a custom arrow. Or you can expand and skew inside a effect, But again this couldn't account for the orientation of the line.

 query : Re: Photoshop script to select specific colors Please note that I'm a complete beginner and this is my first coding question ever. If this is more appropriate on another site, tell me. I want

@Yeniel278

This is more of a long commentary than an answer. I am not sure selecting color range is the best way to replace color but yes you could do this.

Number of lines dont make more efficient code! One line of code can well be less efficient than a 100. Besides theres code below code so its not like your scripting language is pedal to the metal. Also the scripting API is inherently inefficient if you care for speed then its time to start wirting c++ and use photoshop plugin API.

However, i will take it you mean more practical. Yes we can define some functions to make it easier to read and use, call and slightly more condense. Although making it more practical will increase the length slightly, but this is not meaningfull for you. So let us refactor the code:
#target photoshop

selectColorRange(
RGBc(0.0, 255.0, 0.0),
RGBc(0.0, 255.0, 0.0)
);

/******* Support functions *******/

function cTID(s) { return app.charIDToTypeID(s); }
function sTID(s) { return app.stringIDToTypeID(s); }

function RGBc(r, g, b) {
var color = new ActionDescriptor();
color.putDouble( cTID("Rd "), r);
color.putDouble( cTID("Grn "), g);
color.putDouble( cTID("Bl "), b);
return color
}

function selectColorRange(color1, color2){
var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
desc.putInteger(cTID("Fzns"), 0 );
desc.putObject( cTID("Mnm "), cTID("RGBC"), color1 );
desc.putObject( cTID("Mxm "), cTID("RGBC"), color2 );
executeAction( cTID("ClrR"), desc, DialogModes.NO );
}

So now from your point of view the code is only selectColorRange. Obviously, if you only ever intend to select only one color then you could change selectColorRange to only take one input.

Also even if adobe had this as a javascipt function or object then your code wouldnt be more then 3 lines shorter most likely. Since objects need to be populated anyway.
Well this is pretty easy, you can find many implementations of this by googling. So lot us define a function to do this:

function hexC(hex) {
// stackoverflow.com/questions/5623838/rgb-to-hex-and-hex-to-rgb hex = hex.substring(1,7)
bigint = parseInt(hex, 16);
var color = new ActionDescriptor()
color.putDouble(cTID("Rd "), (bigint >> 16) & 255);
color.putDouble(cTID("Grn "), (bigint >> 8) & 255);
color.putDouble(cTID("Bl "), bigint & 255);
return color
}

So you would call hexC like this,

colorReplace(
hexC("#00ff00"),
hexC("#00ff00")
);

instead of RGBc.

Ok, so now we have all pieces in your code in place. If you have many colors then just call a for loop.
