I was checking inbound links in Google Search Console and it says I have 1000s of links from some completely irrelevant domains.
They're not related to my industry whatsoever, they've all appeared in a short space of time, yet they don't have low trust metrics in either Moz or Majestic.
When I check the pages for links to my site, I can't find any. I'm not sure what to do - is Search Console reliable here? Should I submit these domains to the disavow file even though I can't actually find a link to my site?

I would like to retain the old one so that my whole site is still running Yoast SEO, and at the same running JSON-LD mark up codes.
If it's bad, then is there a way how to get rid of it?

It can vary widely between different industries. What is a high conversion rate in one vertical can be extremely low in another and vice versa. As have been mentioned below, it also depends greatly on the type of search. For branded search you would normally expect to have a much higher rate than for more generic search terms.
Another factor to consider is how compelling the results surrounding yours are. A site could be ranking below yours but have a stronger call to action and be performing better. You should think of your page title and META description in the same way that you would the copy for an Adwords ad.
Here is a useful article from Search Engine Land on the topic of optimising your click through rate for various different verticals
I would also considering checking out the book Cashvertising which has hundreds of quick and easily digestible tips on writing strong copy.
Another major consideration in recent SERPs is the presence of answer boxes which can greatly improve your visibility and potentially clickthrough rate. You can find a guide to how to get into Answer boxes in the SERPS here
Also if you are not using schema for elements of your content such as reviews you should consider this. The star ratings that you see in the results if you do searches such as seo companies uk are generated by use of schema and can have a significant impact.
: Use a custom domain instead of subdomain for a webapp that depends on the subdomain as a key I have a cloud application with subdomain per customer on Domain B. customer1.B.com customer2.B.com
I have a cloud application with subdomain per customer on Domain B.
Customer1 now wants to link to the application to use a subdomain of his own domain A. E.g. app.A.com
The cloud application depends on the subdomain (customer1), because it is using this as marker for loading the correct data.
Is it possible in any way to "hide" the application behind another domain/subdomain (e.g. with CNAME)?

I have a website where I review a few local businesses. I have one page per business, where I present the business and explain my review.
My goal is to have rating stars shown in Google search results (based on my review).
should my root type be a Review?
or should it be a LocalBusiness?
LocalBusiness seems to make sense because I have a lot of information about the business (prices, geoloc, etc.), but since it's not my business it might not be appropriate. Also there is this message in google's documentation:
We are currently piloting this feature with a small set of initial providers. We hope to open up the feature to more providers soon. Register your interest in our form.
So it seems stars will actually not work unless I register to some beta (my website is really small and in french, nothing that Google will really care about).
If Review works to show stars then that's enough for me. But if I use Review, can the itemReviewed be a Thing? If it's a LocalBusiness it seems I need to provide a lot of information that's not useful for the review. Google says:
You can supply ratings for the following content types:
So reviewing a Thing might not be a good choice, but at the same time reviewing a LocalBusiness might not be good too:
(the last point does not fit with my website where I'm the one writing the reviews)

After a revamp of our website, I have submitted an updated sitemap then fetched the homepage URL / as Google and submitted it and its direct links for indexing in Google Search Console more than 2 weeks ago. Since then I haven't seen a change at all in total number of indexed pages. The pages crawled per day has been consistent throughout this time but nothing to indicate the whole site has been re-crawled for indexing (I would've expected to see a spike here).
If I go to Crawl -> Sitemaps, I can see some pages have been marked as indexed but it's only a very small percentage of total number of submitted URLs and the figures haven't changed in over two weeks. There are no sitemap errors or index errors.
Does anyone know how long it takes before I should see some movement? And am I looking in the right place to see it, i.e. the crawl stats and total number of indexed pages in Google Search Console? How do I know if Google has crawled the pages and decided not to index them versus not crawled them at all?

I have 26 website tracking codes currently directly under my Google Analytics account, plus a large handful of shared access accounts (roughly 40 total accounts combined).
The last 4 or 5 direct accounts that I've added are not showing up through the GA iOS app. They show up fine through GA in the browser, but no reference whatsoever in the iOS app.
I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app.
Any ideas what might be going on here and how to get the data to show up on the iOS side?

While Search Console and Analytics will never match perfectly, generally, these should be much closer. What changes did you make to your site three months ago? Stephen's comment about the different versions of your URL could help to explain the problem. In Search Console, there is a difference between https and http, www and non-www. So, if you had changed something on your domain to require https or to force www, perhaps Google Search Console is no longer tracking the correct version of your domain. You can read more information about this, and a few other possible explanations, here.
: Re: Determine Google search term for page hits I am a Web developer but my knowledge of SEO tools and techniques is scant. An SEO professional told me that Alexa SEO tool has the ability to determine
Alexa SEO (like other similar tools) is going to give you information about the traffic they'd expect to come to your site based on estimations they make about the volume of traffic. I can't confirm Alexa's sources but many of these tools use AdWords's traffic estimator service. This is estimated traffic and doesn't represent traffic specific to your site.
For organic search terms, Google doesn't pass keyword information to other tools. The only source where you can get some of this information is the Search Analytics report in Google Search Console. Keep in mind this information shared in Search Analytics has some potential issues as well. Here is a good review of the reliability of that data.

I have a WordPress site and for a very complicated reason I have to set some post type's template to empty file. Nothing.
Which means I have a URL on my site (let's say: example.com/postype/the-best-post/) which displays nothing (it doesn't only display nothing it's also really empty, like if you view the source, no code at all).
So is it bad for my site?
And if it is do i have another alternative that would make it alright (some way to say to Google robots. I'm letting you know that this is a empty page and you have no reason to index it so don't punish me please?!)
This is isn't a duplicate of webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/106931/… because it's about pages with html, just with no content and this is about pages with no html at all.
: Re: Get Adwords approval for domain that contains some user generated pages of which Google disapproves I have a site which let's people build a simple one page site (landing page) and host it
So, talking with google again - they say if will have the landpages as subdomains they will be treated as separated sites and not effect each other.
This is a bit tricky to do, but it seems like it's the only practical solution.
I'm working on a site that has a speedbump set up to give a disclaimer when visitors leave our site for another. We then have a whitelist of URLs for external sites where this speedbump does not pop up. The source code for these whitelisted sites is placed in the source code of each page within paragraph tags that aren't visible on the webpages but are within the code.
It looks as though this gets crawled as on page content by tools like SEMRush. Does it likewise get crawled as content by Google?

: Re: Testing my site for accessibility to readers What are some quick and easy ways to determine if my web site is healthy or poor when it comes to accessibility to readers and other like devices?
There's a free screen reader program for Windows called NVDA. It can be downloaded here: www.nvaccess.org/download/
Macs come with a screen reader program called Voiceover, WebAIM has an article on how to use it: webaim.org/articles/voiceover/
I found it very enlightening as a sighted person to try navigating some websites via a screen reader. Experiencing the frustration first-hand of dealing with a badly coded website really helped drive home the importance of doing this correctly.

I began to sell a product on my root domain domain.tld and pushing it in Google search. But in the meantime I created a complete portal around the topic which ist targeted by the product.
My first idea was to use a subdomain portal.domain.tld for the content of the portal and redirect domain.tld to the subfoldered content of the product page: domain.tld -> portal.domain.tld/product.
Is this a good idea? Does my page rank is as good as when the portal content would be reachable with the root domain?

Using Apache 2.4.10 on two different Linux hosts.

With one server, the uri /uploads produces:
You don't have permission to access the requested directory. There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected.
If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
With the other server, that uri produces a listing of the files in the uploads directory below the document root.
