I have a page which I would like to ranking Google for a specific keyword. This is a not the home page. This is a sub-page. Traffic is very high on this keyword and there is fierce competition for it.

If paid links and guest posts are very bad for SEO then what is the alternative method? Is buying ads the best way to improve SEO of my sub-page? (Meaning directing internet users to the site with ads.)

 query : Re: How to improve SEO ranking of keyword with least content on the webpage? I have a challenge to rank my page for few keywords. But the dilemma is my page is bound to have very less content

@Correia994

Actually, you have to need to do anything from the points you mentioned.

you can change the design if you don't like but no need for ranking.

and now google becomes smarter than ever before. google ranks for those keywords also which you have not written on your page. so no need for increased density

think about e-commerce sites when you have a page with no content. Coupon sites, product selling sites have not much content to add keywords but they rank higher than their competitors.

Because they use A Right SEO Strategy to rank higher.

first of all, check your keyword details. Its Volume, KD, and much more. find Keywords According to your Site. www.dotcomonly.com/keyword-research/
then check its competitor in Google. (their content, Backlink Profile and other weak points) Use ahrefs.com
then think how you can better.

and copy their backlinks, Add Keywords in your Title and Meta, Img Alt texts, Interlink you that page from your site where you can...

And make Good User Experience.

Hope It Helps

if you change Sidebar widgets, post images or something like...

But if you change meta desc. post title, URL, Content (add new, remove, rewrite), ALt text in images then it will be changed in SEO

<?= $lang['LIJEVO_PRVI_OPIS_PARAGRAF_DVA']; ?>

and I call translate from php file depending on clicked language in dropdown on web page

<?php

$lang = array(

'LIJEVO_PRVI_OPIS_PARAGRAF_JEDAN' => 'Test Test',
'LIJEVO_PRVI_OPIS_PARAGRAF_DVA' => 'Test Test',

This is dropdown where I click on wanted language and pass parameters to URL And when I change language my url look like this testtest.com?lang=en or testtest.com?lang=fr etc.

<ul>
<li><a href="?lang=en">en</a></li>
<li><a href="?lang=fr">fr</a></li>
<li><a href="?lang=es">es</a></li>
<li><a href="?lang=it">it</a></li>
</ul>

This is working very well, but I need a suggestion for WEB page optimization for SEO in this way, with this way of translate. I dynamically also change and meta keywords and description, <html lang="selectedLang">, and title and alt on img depending on the selected language.

Default language is ENGLISH, and when Google index my page it's in English. How to make and set links for indexing in another language? My dropdown with language for select is in the footer, is this ok or I need to make another link in the header? I don't understand how SEO works in this way of translate web page. Thank you very much

I made a multi-author website, where volunteer writers publish articles, and in return a description about them is shown under their articles, now I need them to sign a contract, with some statements like their ownership of the article, their consent for publishing it on the website.

I wonder if I should add a clause about writing exclusively for the website so not to generate duplicate content on the web and to preserve web SEO. I fear that would be discouraging for them since they are volunteers.

I could alternatively edit the clause to publish the content first on the website, or add the meta canonical; then they can publish it on their blog for example or wherever they want. That way would search engines identify the website as the original source? What do webmasters do in this case to not damage their SEO?

The fact is my app is absolutely not worth making a dedicated website and I don't think I'll ever make one (any cases, not for few years).

Is it possible to have my app crawled by googlebots and indexed directly ?

I have recently transferred a domain name from GoDaddy to NameCheap. The DNS I am using is CloudFlare.

Since the time transfer has completed, I see that while the main domain is working fine, I see that some of the subdomains are not working (or timing out).

As I understand there is no domain propagation involved in this change since DNS and NS remains exact same across registrars. (Perhaps whatever propagation is needed is done at the root which shouldn't affect the DNS entries )

Can someone please enlighten me what can be the reason of these sub-domains not working?

[Update: As expected, all sub-domains are now working as they should. However, the mystery continues, why did the sub-domains go down for those few hours?]

@Correia994

Posted in: #GoogleAnalytics #Shopify #Tracking

Client has a website on Squarespace, with google analytics tracking.

They are using shopify for order processing. I think this is called the 'buy button sales channel' on shopify. When a user clicks 'BUY' on the squarespace site they are forwarded to the shopify domain checkout.shopify.com/...
Shopify -> Settings -> Checkout has a field called 'additional scripts' which seems promising. The help states:

The Additional content & scripts box is used to insert code into the template for your order status page. You can add any of the following:

HTML You can use any valid HTML5 code, for example script, style, iframe and object elements.

Liquid code You have access to the checkout and shop liquid objects.

ROI/conversion tracking scripts

Referral tracking scripts

So I added a test script to that field:

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
console.log('test');
</script>

But I don't see any console message. Perhaps this only works on the 'order status page'?

It seems that the plugin, when it does not find any text, instead of leaving the values empty it will inject the Post.title and Post.description.

@Correia994

In my experience it is not too late even a year later if the site had a good reputation in Google's eyes. I have seen a site be off-line for months and then reappear after it has been found live again.

The strategy to do a 301 redirect is an important one in SEO and it is based on relevance. What the OP says about the first redirect is clearly not relevant, ie. pages deep on the site had different topics to the home page of the site and they ranked for those subjects. Now a redirect from off-topic (ie other than the home page) will lose the relevance factor and thusly drop in the rankings.

The reason why a change in a redirect will work even much later, is the fact that Google keeps on indexing your site and its pages and when it finds changes, it will simply take these into account. Thusly a change can't ever be too late.

I am going to be doing a site revamp with several hundreds of pages later this year and the job of 301 is a top priority on my list of todos.

And this function

function Map2Image(MapDiv,phpup,format){
var transform=$(".gm-style>div:first>div").css("transform")
var comp=transform.split(",") //split up the transform matrix
var mapleft=parseFloat(comp[4]) //get left value
var maptop=parseFloat(comp[5]) //get top value
$(".gm-style>div:first>div").css({ //get the map container. not sure if stable
"transform":"none",
"left":mapleft,
"top":maptop,
})
}
html2canvas(document.getElementById(MapDiv),{
useCORS: true,
onrendered: function(canvas){
$.post(phpup,{image:canvas.toDataURL("image/"+format)});
$(".gm-style>div:first>div").css({
left:0,
top:0,
"transform":transform
});
}
});
}

This function is based on this answer.

NOTE: I know is a very old post (from 2014), but I'm posting this because I think it can be useful for someone. Even better, someone can give us a best solution.

@Correia994

That is a very good question.

Yes, it can absolutely affect your organic rankings.

Why? Google is actually pretty good at rendering pages with javascript and css now. They actually look at your pages like humans do (almost) i.e. if you have black text on black background you might not see that content at all.. or if you place text within hidden elements.

There's been a discussion in the seo community if it is ok to hide text behind tabs on a page (with css).

On mobile it is perfectly fine, Google have said that oficially themselves. However, on desktop it can be considered as an old seo spam/keyword stuffing technique.

So test it yourself. Alter a page and track its performance the following weeks or month to see if you get affected or penalized.

1 x various types of photography, site also translated in Japanese. Much older site and generates many leads through organic search and referral.

The sites currently have the following information relating to the business owner:

Same contact name on each site
Same phone number
Same ABN (Australian Business Number)
Unique email
Street address only on the wedding photography site

Can I retain the two websites and optimise the Wedding photography site (with the active GMB listing) without it being damaged by the existence of the second site (which will only be optimised for organic SEO)

What steps can I take? Such as remove ABN from second photography site, use different phone number. Keep as organic SEO without address.

Or is this really inadvisable, should it be handled as a single business one address, or as multiple businesses of same owner at multiple addresses?

Update:

I have been advised by Google (GMB Support) not to have two businesses offering the same service at the same address owned by the same owner

Blocking URL's or part of your website in your robots.txt is actually no guarantee that they will not be crawled. There are circumstances where the disallow directive in the robots.txt-file will be ignored. Usually it's because you have external links (backlinks) pointing to the URL's you wish to hide. If you are trying to prevent the URL to be indexed by Google you should use the X-Robots-Tag HTTP header. If do you that you must remove the disallow directive in your robots.txt-file, otherwise there could be a conflict. Google bot is the "normal" bot from Google that will crawl your website and fetch data used for the index.
